Google has unveiled new brand guidelines requirements for Performance Max campaigns, set to take effect on January 20, 2025. The update introduces mandatory asset requirements and changes to asset management structure.
New Campaign Requirements
Google will require all new Performance Max campaigns created through the user interface to include the following:
- Business name assets
- Standard logo assets
- Landscape logo assets
The update introduces a significant shift in asset management, moving brand assets from asset group level to campaign level through the CampaignAsset resource.
API Support Status
The current Version 18 of the Google Ads API does not support these brand guidelines-enabled campaigns. Google has confirmed future API updates will include:
- Brand guidelines campaign creation
- Settings management capabilities
- Campaign-level asset controls
Advertisers can monitor the brand guidelines status of their campaigns through the Campaign.brand_guidelines_enabled
field in their campaign settings.
